This recipe is intended to deter pests, but it might not completely eliminate them. Consistent cleaning and good coop hygiene are essential for long-term pest control.

Ingredients:

  • 1 gallon of warm water
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon liquid castile soap
  • 10-15 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 10-15 drops tea tree oil

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients thoroughly in a spray bottle.
  2. Shake well before each use.

Application:

  • Spray the coop, roosts, and nesting boxes, paying close attention to cracks and crevices.
  • Avoid spraying directly on your chickens.
  • Reapply as needed, especially after cleaning the coop.

Additional Tips:

  • For persistent pests, consider adding diatomaceous earth to the coop's floor and nesting boxes.
  • Regularly clean and disinfect your coop to prevent pest infestations.
  • Provide your chickens with a dust bath area to help them control external parasites.

Remember: While this recipe can be helpful, it's not a guaranteed solution. Consistent pest management practices are crucial for a healthy flock.
